Bonnygate Primary School celebrate Ofsted report

BONNYGATE Primary School in South Ockendon has made “significant improvements” according to schools inspectorate Ofsted.

Their report states ”good leadership by the head teacher and strong teamwork by staff” has led to the improvements at the school, in Arisdale Avenue.

Head teacher Jim Johnson said: “The clear vision which we have developed, coupled with the commitment of all staff, has led the school to the new heights.

“We are not taking anything for granted and know we need to keep up the hard work to maintain this improvement.”

The report says that in the last two years the school has seen a steady improvement in standards, however, Ofsted believes some the pupils could make even better progress in English, maths and science if the teachers could challenge them more with lessons at done at brisker paces.

Ofsted said the school is a “satisfactory and improving one” where the children enjoy coming to school and behave well during lessons.
