New look for Thurrock church

THURROCK dignitaries descended upon Grays Parish St Peter and St Paul’s Church for a re-dedication service to celebrate its £300,000 revamp.

The service was carried out by Reverend Darren Barlow with special guest the Bishop of Bradwell, Laurie Green and Archdeacon of Southend Venerable David Lowman.

Also in attendance on Sunday was Thurrock Council leader, Terry Hipsey, Thurrock Council Labour leader, John Kent and Thurrock MP Andrew Mackinlay.

Rev Barlow said: “We’re delighted with how the reordering work has been completed. The church looks fantastic.”

The revamp included external floodlights, improved disabled access, new toilets, a sound system, a new main entrance, under-floor heating and a versatile self contained room within the main area to be used for light refreshments, as a creche and for group meetings.
