AN AVELEY mother and her two teenage children were taken to hospital today following a collision between their car and a lorry in Purfleet.
Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to Arterial Road around 11.45am after a white Volvo tipper truck collided with a blue Vauxhall Astra.
Significant damage was caused to the car, and the three passengers were treated by the ambulance service.
The mother, who had been driving, had a nasty bump and cut to the back of her head.
Her 17-year-old son was treated for broken ribs and a cut above his right eye, while his 18-year-old sister was treated for a cut to her face.
Paramedic Ian Best said: "We assessed and treated the family at the scene and took them to Basildon Hospital for further care.
"The lorry driver was very shaken up by what had happened but fortunately was not hurt."
