A GAS leak in the basement of Thurrock Council’s Civic Offices in New Road, Grays, forced a full evacuation of the offices.
At just before 11am today the leak was discovered and National Grid advised a full evacuation of the building.
Half an hour later National Grid staff were on the scene and had isolated the leak. It was made safe shortly afterwards.
Council staff returned to the building at noon and the public were allowed in shortly afterwards.
