Organised in partnership by the Tilbury Riverside Project, English Heritage and Thurrock Museum a number of heritage buildings are open for you to discover our local history.

The hub to visit is the Tilbury Riverside Activity centre, where exhibitions by local heritage groups will be on display, from here guided walks and tours will start, including the 1930s Tilbury Cruise Terminal and railway station, Riverside walks to Tilbury Fort and on to the environmental center at Tilbury Power station.
Tilbury Fort will have some artillery and military vehicle displays.
Pete Hewitt is also touring in a bus talking about Tilbury Town.
There is something for all the familly.
A photographic competition at the Tilbury Activity Centre, part of the Riverside complex is open to anybody who has taken photos of the Tilbury area, prizes for younger and older photographers will be given for unusual and interesting images of the area.
You can also bring in ‘old’ photographs to talk up the history of Tilbury or Thurrock. Events open up from 10.00am. Free parking is available at the London Cruise Terminal, thanks to the Port of Tilbury. I look forward to meeting you on the various tours.
HISTORY FEED BACK:
Joan Stephens e-mailed about the Echoe’s in Grays saying: “In the middle 1960’s I worked in the 'Echoe's. It was used as part of the Grays Cooperative administration, housing the offices for the Chief Executive Officer and Personnel Manager, I worked for the latter.
"It must have been a large house but half of it had been burnt down at that time. Later the offices were moved by Grays Railway station before moving to Congress House”.
HISTORY FACT OF THE WEEK
