Members wear the Grays Cycling Club (GCC), metal cap badge on their hats, while the official starter wears a black bowler hat.
I have read they undertook both short races and longer rides out, sometimes as far a field as Bristol for a weekend. I have no information on the makes of bikes, but I wonder which shops in Grays provided sales of bikes and tyres!

Some of the bikes have bells on the handle bar, although the man on the far right appears to have a horn for blowing!
Hogg Lane, from the photograph, was then a gravelled surface road with no pavements or speed cameras!
Two of the members have previously been identified as Dick and Arthur Thurgood.
I wonder have any readers got further information on the Grays Cycling Club, when they were formed, where they met and when were they disbanded?
