MEMBERS of Thurrock Council have repeated a message to the East of England Regional Assembly that they don’t want any more travellers in the borough.
At a full council meeting a motion by councillor Anne Cheale proposed that the council would not accept the establishment of any further traveller sites in Thurrock.
She said: “I believe this is an issue that residents expect us to take a stand on.
“This is not a motion that is anti-traveller. we should take our fair share - and do!”
There was all party support for the motion with BNP councillor Emma Colgate saying: “Travellers sites are not very cohesive for our communities.”
