Shell Haven safety incentive scheme benefits cancer charity

STAFF at the Shell Haven oil refinery in Coryton, donated £1,500 to Southend Hospital’s Cancer Services charity as part of a Health and Safety incentive scheme.

The presentation was made by Mick Luckin, site manager at Shell Haven to Barbara Warner, senior fundraising manager from Southend Hospital Charity, Cancer Services, at a special event at the Manorway site today.

The donation was in recognition of continuing excellent safety performance by company and contractor staff at Shell Haven.

The company's safety incentive scheme allows staff to propose charities.

Southend Hospital’s, Cancer Services charity was nominated by Shell Haven administrator Jayne Purvor.

Senior fundraising manager at the hospital, Barbara Warner, said: “My thanks to all the staff at Shell Haven for their very generous donation of £1,500 with special thanks to Jayne for nominating Cancer Services at Southend University Hospital as the beneficiaries of the excellent safety award.

“Charitable donations help us to provide additional equipment and patient comforts that cannot be provided by the NHS and we are very grateful to all concerned.”
