A GROUP of fundraisers who grew their moustaches in the name of the Jamie Saunders Leukaemia Awareness Group raised almost £2,000 Led by Jamie’s brother, Wez, 28, the group grew their tashes throughout November and raised 1,989.12 for Children with Leukaemia.

Wez was joined by Paul Scott, 26, of Southend Road, Corringham and Phil Anderson, 23, of Gordon Road, Corringham.

Wez also managed to persuade Children With Leukaemia charity worker Jack Bacon and family friend and lead singer of the band, Billy Vincent, Chris Barrett, 27, to join in the tash-growing fun.

The tash growing, which started on November 1 and finished at the end of the month, led to the group dubbing November “Tashvember”.

Father of three Jamie, 24, of Steeple Hall, Pitsea but originally from East Tilbury died in June after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukaemia.

Before he lost consciousness he asked his family to raise leukaemia awareness.

Wez, of Laburnum Drive, Corringham, said: “Well that's it for Tashvember - thanks to everyone who sponsored us, and of course thanks to Jack, Phil, Scotty, Joe and Chris for getting involved.

“£1,989.12 was raised by the team, which is a great effort.

“We’re doing a lot of things for Jamie’s campaign and are always open to new ideas.”
