Borough PCSOs set to issue tickets for graffiti and dog fouling

POLICE Community Support Officers in Thurrock have been given the go-ahead to issue Thurrock Council’s Fixed Penalty Notices for a number of environmental issues.

Chief Constable of Essex Police Roger Baker has authorised Community Support Officers to issue tickets for offences such as littering, fly-posting, graffiti and dog fouling within the borough.

Councillor Ben Maney, the council’s Cabinet member for Public Protection, welcomed the news.

He said: “This is a tremendous step forward.

“We have long had a close partnership with Essex Police and now we can be seen working together on the streets of Thurrock.

“Targeting anti-social crimes such as littering and graffiti has long been a council priority, now we have even more people able to act against it.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Essex Police for their co-operation on this programme.

“We all want to make Thurrock a cleaner, greener and safer place and this is an important step in achieving that.”
