Councillors want more info on DC plans for Chadwell, East Tilbury and Tilbury

LEADING Thurrock councillors have called on the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation to given them more information about plans to develop Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary.

Members of the Council’s ruling cabinet gave cautious support for the Corporation’s south east Thurrock masterplan when they met on Wednesday, though they stressed objections to some parts of it and wanted to learn more about others.

The regeneration proposals were recently released by the Corporation and included some plans to build on green belt, something which cabinet members objected to.

And there was also opposition to plans for housing on Tilbury riverfront, while the Corporation’s intention for parkland on Tilbury Marshes goes against the borough’s local plan, which forsees employment opportunities on that site.

The Corporation’s plans for housing on Thurrock Parkway were also opposed, with councillors saying they are inappropriately sited.

And the councillors have called on the DC to give more detail on their plans for development of the centres of Tilbury and Chadwell – and also the Bata village at East Tilbury.
