Council parking clampdown under fire

THE chairman of a Grays club has criticised Thurrock Council for its over-active pursuit of revenue from incorrectly parked cars.

Dave Theedom, of Ridgewell Avenue, Orsett, is chairman of Grays Coin Club which offers a free valuation service.

Annuncing that the next meeting of the club will take place shortly, Mr Theedom warned possible attenders that parking wardens are on the prowl.

He said: “The next meeting of Grays Club will be on Wednesday, August 20, at the Stanley Lazell Hall, Dell Road, Grays. at 7.30pm.

“Members welcome all who have an interest in coins, medals, tokens, banknotes, etc., to come along for the evening, perhaps for a free valuation of any coin or medal.

“Entry is free.

“Please note parking on Dell Road in the evening is now being patrolled by Thurrock Council’s parking wardens, up to 9pm or later, so beware of where you park.

“It saddens me to think our Council loves to spoil an evening out in Grays, even on this quiet road.”
