Victim Support Knife crime workshop at Thurrock school

A THURROCK school were shown the stark reality of the dangers of knife crime yesterday.

As part of Inside Justice Week, Victim Support in Essex presented four days of knife crime workshops to schools across Essex from October 21 to 24.

The Ockendon School were presented with a number of anti-knife crime workshops aimed to raise awareness of how people could find themselves being pressured into getting involved with knife crime.

The workshops were presented by Victim Support and Outloud Productions.

In one workshop, “Do the Right Thing,” actors dramatically told the story of an 18-year-old man who had become involved in gang culture and found himself convicted of murder after a rival gang-member was knifed.

The workshop explored issues such as peer pressure, respect for others, and how by making different choices, people's lives can be changed forever.

Other issues addressed in the workshops included domestic abuse and bullying.
