PLANS to extend a residential care home in South Ockendon were rejected by Thurrock Council’s Planning Committee on Thursday November 13.
The application proposed a two storey extension to the rear of the existing house, and the addition of two more parking spaces at the front of the property, and two at the back.
The two new spaces at the front of the property would have been accessed by a new dropped kerb.
Three residents from South Road wrote to the council to object to the application, citing noise and disturbance among their concerns.
The committee went with the officers’ recommendation and rejected the proposal on the grounds of highway safety, concerned that access onto South Road would obstruct the free and safe flow of traffic on the busy road.
