Talent shines at the Crooked Billet in Thurrock

THE second “Thurrock’s Got Talent” competition at the Crooked Billet, Stanford-le-Hope, on Saturday evening proved a big success.

At the end of an evening featuring 14 amateur entertainers more than £500 had been raised for next years’ Stanford Music Festival.

Winner of the competition was singer 21-year-old Ceyhan Djevat of Chafford Hundred, a teaching assistant at Warren Primary School.

Runner-up was 13-year-old Kirsty McNally from Grays, a student at the town’s Convent School.

“The evening was very enjoyable and helped raise a considerable amount towards the costs of the music festival, which is free for the community to enjoy,” said one of the event’s organisers, Terry Piccolo.
